ADS - Since some people seem confused.

I have been getting e-mails about the ads being "Overwhelming" and some people cannot get past them. So, I made a video to help people understand how they work, a way to get past them, everything you need to know. Please watch. I promise it is worth your time.

      (Prepare for a good laugh.)

I seriously went thru a bunch of trouble to make all the ads as less intrusive as possible. If you notice all the ads on the site are in boxes that you can even close, I actually wrote all the scripting and placed all of those myself, they companies didn't do any of that. as for the pop-ups that are new, that is the biggest one that pays literally 10X more than all of the others combined. They even wrote it all for me and work with my every wish. there was an ad company I didn't want to use, and they removed it instantly. So, I am pretty happy with them so far. And next up will be a video ad. Free users see an ad in the lower left corner that I made as well. There is a replacement for that one which is almost exactly like nexus' video one, except mine can be closed out instantly. I don't want to ADD more ads, I just want to replace some of them that we have. I don't want to spam anyone; I just want the most out of what we already have. If I have 2 ads that look and act exactly the same, but one pays more, I want to go with the one that pays more. but I don't want any that will compromise our security or introduce virus's. When someone messages me with issues, I really do log into my temp account and i try to repeat what they did so I can see it myself and make sure it's safe. If i don't like its behavior, I leave the company, which I have already went thru a bunch as it is.

I started off using Google AdSense. It was only making me about $30 a month. They promised with a little time the ads would adjust to my site and produce alot more income. So far that is a huge lie. So, I started exploring more companies. I even went to one company who rejected me because I don't have enough traffic. I kind of felt a little insulted, but that is life. lol.

I appreciate everyone who has been understanding to this transition. I never wanted to go to ads. I loved that I was 100% user supported. Maybe when the economy picks back up, I can remove them all again, but for now this seems to be a must.

Very well said, I have noticed that you have the ads boxed and that's great, but in the end, you need to make decisions to keep the site going for others and you've done a great job with it. I've actually clicked on a few of the ads to check them out, well cause I'm a pervert nab shit haha.

I am a little curious what people think of my video player. I use here. I have CDN thru BunnyCDN and that is their EMbedded video setup. It reminds me alot of youtube and the speed is something holy. That video was almost 1GB in size.

As long as the Ads don't bother you, I do not mind. I realize the economy is really bad. A bunch of us are in the same poor position. So, if seeing ads is what you can do, I accept this and I am grateful. Thank you for doing that even. Commenting here and showing your support this way means a bunch to me as well. It gives me hope.

People don't seem to realise that many things are free BECAUSE of ads

As long as they aren't intrusive, I see no problem

However, the pop up ads are a problem. As A) they ARE VERY intrusive, and B) they try to trick you into clicking their stuff and downloading who-knows-what (as shown in your video), and anyone who isn't tech savvy might actually get tricked (yes, you or I might consider it stupid if you get tricked by it, but one thing I've learned is that the majority of people are dumb). I won't complain about something without providing at least one possible solution, so, a solution that ISNT just removing the pop ups, could be to place a secondary page before the pop up, that explains that the next page is a pop up and not to download anything from it

All the other ads though are perfectly fine. Even if you add more of those (perhaps on the sides) instead of pop ups, that would be better too

Understandably honestly. The popups when clicking download IS a little confusing if you are not used to it. I made the video kinda out of anger, and also knowing that in honesty, it would be helpful to see it as well. I am glad that it is helping people.

I use Tempo brand, and I also use the Granules and spread it all over my yard. that helps reduce them alot. Take a cut of hot water, 1 part dish soap, 1 part sugar, and 1 part hot steamy water, microwave it, mix it well. it should be kinda thick. The sugar will attract the ants to it, the dish soap is poison to the ants, they will take it to their queen. use this indoors where you see ants. I am sure this was probably a joke, but just in case it is not, that is my trick. I live far in the country, Them fire ants can be a serious problem if you don't keep them in check.

Awesome advice, though I think I may have found the issue. I use AdFly and I think this is actually the problem. I added the new ad which is what my video is about, but now that I have explored it more, I think AdFly added a new ad and that is what we are seeing. If this is the issue, I am planning of just ending the AdFly issue and take a different route there.
I appreciate the feedback, the warning is a great idea, I will think of a way to implement this actually, some warning of some kind near the download button. Just remember, I am not very skilled with web design and the PHP language I am not real good with, and same with Javascript. both are difficult for me. My main code language is C#, which is not used on my site, so I am limited. I will certainly give it my best though. I really do appreciate your advice, thank you for that. any time you have ideas you would like to share, You can always PM them to me here on the site. I usually respond within 24 hours.

Hey, I don't mind Ads, but some of the site's I'm getting redirected to are places I don't trust period.

Do you mind sharing the links to those sites? I can filter them out if I know what site it is and what you did to see the ad.

Whenever you load a page it overlays an invisible box on the entire page and clicking anything opens a new tab to a variety of malware loaded, and scam filled, websites. You can obviously just close the new tab and then use this site fine, but whenever you refresh the page or go to a new page (on here) the overlay comes back. If these ads that knowingly take you to these malware riddled sites are allowed, then that's pretty scummy. If it's just ad-providers serving bad ads, well that's what they always do, then no surprise.

Schaken requires the link for said ad in order to remove it.  Clearly malware is not wanted, and steps are taken to allay that.
Thank you for your diligence and understanding.

Where should I submit them? There are a handful of links it likes to do. I don't know how to capture what is causing the overlay in any meaningful way for you though. I'll see if enabling adblock and then try selecting it as a source and see what it tells me.

From what I can gather, it seems that there is a script or something that is calling "isortflorent.com" which is then directing to other malware sites, such as "thecloudvantnow.com" "rovno.xyz" "numberpies.icu" "tiffanypinworm.tech" "webvenadvdesign.com". At least those are a small few of the sites it directed me to within 5 minutes of testing. Honestly this is so bad I don't know how anyone can even use this site without premium. It's literally so bad this my antivirus goes off dozens of times per minutes on this site. It is currently nearly unusable and is definitely completely unsafe to visit.

The ads are a must to keep this site alive, however, if there are sites that auto-download or have malware, please do report them, the link is right above the download button on any mod page. if you can copy the web address and where you clicked (Download button, Homepage, etc) then I can actually remove it from the list of ads that can show on my site.

And just in case you have a link handy for me, here is where you can put it for me, and this will help make the site better.
    https://schaken-mods.com/forums/forum/205-report-ads-here/

Alternatively, I did make a subscription plan for only $2, it will remove all ads from the site for you. those are the two options I can give you.

In the future, I am going to try to make a small tool that will allow you to have in the background, it will do crypto minning and it will credit your account on this site, and give you free membership, that will hopefully be another option soon. this will be a 100% no cost option for a free membership. cool part will be it credits your account, so anything extra you make, you can just put it on your PayPal and have the money free.

I had no issue with ads, my issue came from the fact that any time you clicked anything on this website it would automatically open a link to try to give you malware. That was not acceptable to me. However it seems that since I mentioned it, the said issue has gone away.

Scratch that, it still happens, just doesn't happen on every page now.

Also the crypto mining thing, yeah I've done normal crypto mining before. You make so little money (virtually nothing) that you may as well not be doing it all. The only way you make money doing that on a standard consumer PC is if you're the one HOSTING a pool of thousands or more users... *cough* *cough*

    Hello,

I don't know if it is the right place to write but since some times, the site is barely unsable. It alwas ask me to login/disable add blocker... when I am logged in and adblockers are switched off.

Furthermore, I also see that I need to be a paid membership to download a mod. Is it something new ?

    Thanks for more information !

    Have a nice day.

Yes, Ashtoreth's Wednesday Addams is indeed a guild mod.  An exclusive, for members only mod.

There are in fact many of those.  Making a membership totally worth it.  Not just no ads, but some great content as well.
